The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is Canada’s lead agency for development assistance. It has a mandate to support sustainable development in developing countries in order to reduce poverty and to contribute to a more secure, equitable, and prosperous world.
CIDA has continuously funded various programmes of the JSIF. They have provided funding for:
The implementation of the ISO 14001 at the JSIF through the Canadian Cooperation Fund (CCF).
A grant of US$ 2,866,897 million for the Fifth Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF-5) administered by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
The CIDA has contributed funds to facilitate the transfer of knowledge of Chile’s Puente Programme to the English Speaking Caribbean. Jamaica, through the Jamaica Social Investment Fund, is one of the participants in this programme.
