Jamaica Constabulary Force

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and its auxiliaries serve, protect and reassure the people of Jamaica through the delivery of impartial and professional services, aimed at the maintenance of law and order, protection of life and property, prevention and detection of crime, and preservation of peace. This Department holds its authority under the Jamaica Constabulary Force Act, which sets out the responsibilities of the Police Department as those of:

  • Maintenance of law and order
  • Prevention and detection of crime
  • Protection of life
  • Investigation of alleged crimes
  • Enforcement of all criminal laws as well as immigration and alien control

The JSIF does not have a formalized partnership arrangement with the JCF but enjoys an interactive and collaborative relationship with the Force. The JSIF does work in volatile communities and benefits from the advice and experience of the JCF personnel in those areas. For the past few of years a number of police divisions have sponsored summer camps for children in the communities of the areas within the division. JSIF provided the funding and the division members facilitated the camps.
