All heads of households and selected family members
underwent Business Smart Training and were later awarded
Entrepreneurial grants. With the entrepreneurial grants, families
engaged in very small-scale businesses such as shop-keeping,
poultry and goat rearing. Beneficiaries from St. Thomas,
Trelawny and Portland were trained in poultry and goat rearing
by the Jamaica Agricultural Society. At the end of the training
families were awarded starter kits.
Through dialogue with the National Council for Persons with
Disabilities, a beneficiary from Jones Town (St. Andrew)
received training and employment and is still employed to date.

Personal Identification
This pillar played a pivotal role in establishing the legal
identity of beneficiaries, bringing them from the margins to
the mainstream. Family members through a joint effort with
the Registrar’s General Department (RGD) were provided with
civil registration documents such as birth certificates. Thirty-
four children were assisted in acquiring their TRN cards and 39
adults and children received birth certificates.
